OUR PACKAGING

POLLUTION AIN’T PRETTY

We love our planet more than makeup so we try to make our products as low waste as possible.

3-in-1 CRAYONS THAT DITCH ALL PLASTIC

Our sustainability-award-winning Balmies are our most sustainable product to date. These 3-in-1 crayons are completely plastic-free, wrapped in recycled paper, and stored in boxes made from 100% recycled paper waste. Just tear the paper (like a Crayola crayon) and recycle or compost as you go.

BOXES THAT CLEAN UP BEACHES

All of our boxes are recyclable, compostable and made from 100% recycled paper waste. They’re manufactured by a group of women in Bali that collects trash from around the island and turns the waste into beautiful packaging for companies such as ours so it doesn’t end up on Bali’s beaches.

LIPSTICK TUBES THAT CLEAN UP LANDFILLS

Our lipstick tubes are made of 50% Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic. That means materials that would otherwise end up in our landfills and oceans end up in your makeup bag instead, which is great because there’s already a scary 6.3 billion metric tons of plastic sitting in landfills.

Unfortunately, PCR tubes can’t be recycled at home so make sure you drop them off at a store (such as Credo) that accepts hard-to-recycle plastics.

Why not 100% PCR?

Unfortunately, manufacturing hasn’t quite caught up to consumer demand so there are very few sustainable options for small businesses. It took us over a year to find a manufacturer that makes 50% PCR. However, we feel confident that as demand continues to grow, manufacturers will produce 100% PCR plastics that are more affordable to small businesses like ours. We will keep you posted!

WHAT’S UP WITH THE CRAYON PACKAGING?

Late 2021, we will begin to phase out our current aluminum crayon tubes for 50% PCR tubes. Stay tuned for more on this!

Why Axiology Went 100% Plastic-Free

The beauty industry creates 120 billion units of packaging waste every single year and Axiology was part of the problem. Yes our lipsticks were ethically sourced, cruelty-free, vegan, and the tubes were made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, but it was still waste that would eventually end up in a landfill or our oceans. So in 2022, we ditched all of our plastic and focused our efforts on fighting the beauty industry’s massive plastic waste problem.
